Kickstart 2018 and sign up to Race For Life Torbay

TORBAY women are invited to kickstart the New Year by signing up to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

To help celebrate its return, this January (1-31 January), Torbay women are being offered 30% off entry fees for Race for Life 5k.

Every day, 90 people are diagnosed with cancer in the South West*. That’s why the charity is urging women of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities to enter the Race for Life 5k at the Torbay Velopark, Paignton on Sunday 20 May. By signing up to Race for Life, you can make a real difference in the fight against cancer. Money raised will help Cancer Research UK scientists find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease, helping save more lives.

Amy Salmon, Cancer Research UK’s Devon and Cornwall Event Manager, said: “We can’t wait to bring Race for Life back to Torbay, with a new version of the running route, which will include the beautiful Clennon Lakes. January is the perfect time for women in Devon to commit to getting a little more active in 2018 by signing up for Race for Life and taking on a new fitness challenge. It’s time to mark the New Year and make a resolution to remember. By joining like-minded ladies committed to the cause, local women can unite against a disease that affects us all in some way. Taking part in Race for Life is a hugely moving experience. It’s a special opportunity for people to come together to remember loved ones lost to cancer or celebrate the lives of those dear to them who have survived.”

To enter Race for Life today visit raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770.

PEOPLE in the Bay who are looking to make a resolution with a difference, and connect with their local community, are being urged to volunteer at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. By signing up to Race for Life’s volunteer team, and joining the fight against cancer, Torbay’s men and women will be playing a crucial part in beating this devastating disease. As the countdown starts to the 5k event at The Torbay Velopark, Torbay on Sunday 20 May, organisers are calling on people to sign up as helpers at raceforlife.org

Amy Salmon, Cancer Research UK’s Torbay Event Manager, said: “This New Year, why not make a pledge to make a difference. Whatever time and skills you have to share, we’ve got the perfect role for you and there is training available on the day. The atmosphere promises to be electric as people from all walks of life unite in the fight against cancer. We’re calling on local men and women to get stuck in, cheer as loud as they can and help motivate our inspirational participants all the way to the finish line.”
